RURAL SERVICES

While Connolly Suthers' Townsville office may be a long way from the man on the land, the firm's people understand life on the land.

Connolly Suthers has its roots in working with primary industry. The firm has evolved from a traditional North Queensland rural services practice, which, in the past, has comprised branch offices in Tully, Ingham and Hughenden. Connolly Suthers offers a 100 year track record and a specialised regional knowledge and presence in North Queensland. The firm continues to work for many primary producers today.

Connolly Suthers appreciates the problems and difficulties faced by farmers and graziers. New environmental laws pose new problems that affect traditional farming practices. The consequences of non-compliance can be disastrous.

Over many years of working with local primary producers, Connolly Suthers has tailored a comprehensive range of rural services covering issues such as:

  • agistment, share-farming and leasing
  • easements and water agreements
  • water rights
  • sugar industry issues
  • disputes with mining companies
  • disputes with financiers
  • disputes with adjoining landowners
  • conservation and environmental concerns
  • compensation for resumption by statutory authorities or mining leases
  • partnership and family disputes.
While Connolly Suthers is now based in Townsville, the firm's lawyers visit rural areas on a regular basis and by appointment.
