Solicitor  - Ayr Based

ABOUT THE ROLE:  

Connolly Suthers lawyers currently have an exciting new opportunity for a fulltime motivated Solicitor to be part of a long-established local organisation. The primary role of the Solicitor is to provide legal advice, prepare and draft legal documents, and conduct negotiations on behalf of clients on matters associated with the law.  

ABOUT YOU: 

As a Solicitor at Connolly Suthers your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  • Providing legal advice to clients in multiple practice areas 
  • Liaising with other legal practitioners 
  • Legal research and related tasks 
  • General duties (including basic administration) as required from time-to-time 
  • Build strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates, ensuring a positive client experience 
  • Preparation of correspondence and documentation 
  • Documentation and file management, including producing accurate file notes, client correspondence and various other tasks 
  • Collaborate with associates and legal assistants to deliver a seamless professional experience for clientele 
      
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

In this role you will be constantly challenged and expanding your skill set. The ideal candidate will have experience within different departments of law as well as; 

  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment is strongly desirable.  
  • Proactive approach to file management 
  • Strong attention to detail and drafting capabilities 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Experience working in a high-volume work environment 
  • Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite, especially with Excel, Word, and PDFs  
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of client service 
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, together with the ability to apply initiative. 
  • Exceptional time management and organisational capacity 

The successful applicant will join the firm's 25 other solicitors and will have the support of senior practitioners across all areas of legal work undertaken by the firm.

Dispatch Clerk -  Administration Department 

ABOUT US:

Connolly Suthers Lawyers is one of North Queensland’s largest, most diverse, and dynamic rms.   

We are seeking a full-time dispatch clerk to join our administration department in our Townsville CBD office.   

ABOUT YOU: 

The successful applicant will be required to perform internal duties as well as on occasions assisting the reception staff. 

Day to day duties included but are not limited to; 

  • Internal and external deliveries 
  • General clerical duties 
  • Storage and retrieval of files 
  • Scanning mail 
  • Court Filing 
  • Reception duties on occasion.   
To be suitable for this position you should have the following experience/skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Word, PDF’s & Outlook 
  • Excellent writing, communication & presentation skills 
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • Exceptional time management skills and an attention to detail  
  • A strong work ethic, with an emphasis on being punctual and reliable 

Please note a current driver's licence is required for this position. 

Experience preferred but not essential.

Legal Assistant -  Administration Department 

ABOUT THE ROLE:  

Connolly Suthers lawyers currently have an exciting new opportunity for a motivated Legal Assistant to be part of a long-established local organisation. The primary role of the Legal Assistant is to help prepare legal documents, assist clients with getting ready for a court appearance or gathering information needed for a legal case.  

Your responsibilities will include: 
  • Answering incoming calls and directing calls to appropriate staff; 
  • Creating files for new clients and archiving completed legal matters; 
  • Drafting correspondence and legal documents; 
  • Producing file notes; 
  • Assisting solicitors and paralegals with the daily management of files including administrative support; 
  • Maintaining front of office appearance and meeting room readiness; and 
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail. 
We are looking for someone who has:  
  • A proactive, can-do attitude;  
  • Thorough attention to detail;  
  • Great organisational and time management skills;  
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and work under pressure; and  
  • The motivation to be part of a high performing team. 

Experience within the legal profession is highly preferred, however not essential.
