Compensation Lawyers for Medical Negligence

If it is possible that you have received incorrect or inadequate medical treatment that has led to either physical, psychological or financial harm, then you might be able to claim compensation.

Claims can sometimes be made where your doctor or healthcare provider did not:

  • Diagnose a condition properly or within a reasonable amount of time;
  • Treat you or refer you to a specialist as soon as possible;
  • Treat you with reasonable care and skill;
  • Advise you of the risks of a procedure;
  • Provide reasonable follow up care.

Time limits apply and delays could prevent you from making a claim. Prompt expert legal advice is essential.

If you would like to know more, or would rather speak to someone, make an enquiry now and we will be in touch with you very soon.

Connolly Suthers has a dedicated medical negligence team who can help you through this complex claim process.

Who pays the compensation?

Any doctor, allied health provider or hospital can be liable for any act or omission which results in harm (or death) to any person. However, in most cases it is their insurer that actually pays the compensation.  It is very rare for a medical negligence claim to not be covered by insurance.

What can I claim?

Each claim is different but compensation is generally available for things such as:-

  • Loss of past and future wages;
  • Medical, rehabilitation and other expenses;
  • Pain and suffering;
  • Home help in some circumstances.

Compensation is generally determined by the amount of harm or loss that you suffer, rather than the degree of any negligence.

Are there time limits?

Yes - there are strict time limits.

Usually there is a 3 year time limit in which to claim compensation although sometimes it is possible for a claim to be made later if the injury or harm was not immediately apparent.

You should consult a lawyer immediately to protect the rights of you and your family.
