Brendan Gaeta

Brendan joined Connolly Suthers in early January 2004 after graduating from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours. Brendan was appointed a Partner of the Firm in 2012 and has also attained a Master of Employment Relations from Griffith University.

Brendan has a high level of experience in all aspects of property, commercial and business law. His extensive experience across a wide range of areas sees that he is well placed to provide advice on the legal and commercial issues affecting his clients. Brendan has the depth of knowledge and experience needed to advise on, negotiate, document and complete all property, commercial and business transactions, from the straight-forward to the very complex. He is renowned for providing effective and timely advice, with the ability to clearly communicate and carefully document the requirements of the Firm’s clients.

Brendan’s expertise in property law extends to various areas of body corporate law. He has extensive knowledge in the various day-to-day operations of a body corporate and advises many body corporate managers, committees and associated parties across a broad range of body corporate matters. This includes management rights advices, preparation and amendments to by-laws and community management statements, lot entitlement adjustments, levy collections, preparation of submissions, dispute resolutions and in applications for conciliation or adjudication.

Brendan’s expertise in commercial and business law includes in commercial and business sales and acquisitions, commercial and retail leasing, drafting various contract agreements and preparation of mortgage and other security documents. As part of Brendan’s securities practice he also advises in all aspects of Personal property Securities Law including the preparation or amendment of security agreements and the registration of security interests on the Personal Property Securities Register.

Complementing and building on Brendan’s extensive business expertise, Brendan also has substantial experience in employment and industrial relations law. He has acted for many local businesses and associated people in providing advice in a wide range of areas. This includes in the preparation or updating of employment agreement, contractor’s agreements, consultancy agreements, enterprise bargaining agreements and workplace policies and procedures. Brendan also regularly provides advises on performance based claims and terminations, redundancies, anti-discrimination matters, unfair dismissal claims, general protection claims, misrepresentation claims and workplace bullying and harassment.
